Purpose Meets Passion: Inside City of Hope’s “Un-Gala”, Team Rubicon’s Mental Health Mission & OC’s Boldest Park Yet

May 22, 2025

At Idea Hall, we believe great work starts with great purpose. Each month, The Goodness Report rounds up the trends, insights, and inspiring moments shaping our industry and community — and how we’re showing up with intention and impact. This month, we are taking you inside the State of the Great Park, City of Hope and Ocean 48’s “Un-Gala”, and the 2025 OCBC Healthcare Forum.

Check out our curated snapshot of what’s moving and meaningful in the world of purpose-driven branding, PR, and marketing.

State of the Great Park

On May 6, Idea Hall was on the ground with thousands of community members, leaders, and partners at the 2025 State of the Great Park, hosted by the City of Irvine and Councilmember Mike Carroll. The event highlighted the bold vision and progress behind what will become the nation’s largest municipal park – spanning over 1,347 acres.

Idea Hall led event visioning, planning, media relations, and community outreach, including media previews featuring a first look at Whoosh, a fully electric, autonomous aerial transit system poised to transform mobility in Irvine.

The event unveiled The Great Park’s four major development zones:

  • Heart of the Park – Lakes, promenades, gardens, and an amphitheater
  • Cultural Terrace – Museum-ready sites with future plans from local partners
  • Bosque – Forest trails and The Canopy retail village
  • Northern Sector – Veterans Memorial, Botanical Garden, and a historic tower-turned-museum

More than 3,000 guests explored partner exhibits, interactive activations, and performances from groups including the Anaheim Ducks, UC Irvine, Pretend City, and Pacific Symphony.

Councilmember Carroll captured the day best: “We’re not just building a park – we’re building a legacy.”

From bold innovation to community connection, the 2025 State of the Great Park proved what’s possible when vision and partnership unite. And we are so honored and proud to be an integral part of it from day one.

  • 20+ community and brand partners showcased

We had the privilege of supporting City of Hope Orange County and Ocean 48 as they made a bold splash with their first-ever “Un-Gala” – a powerful, purpose-driven event designed to break the mold of traditional fundraisers.

From concept to curtain call, producing City of Hope Orange County’s “Un-Gala” at Ocean 48 was a powerful reminder of what happens when purpose meets passion. The event was brought to life through storytelling, media strategy, and standout visuals, helping to amplify a mission that’s close to so many hearts.

Idea Hall worked with our clients to curate a one-of-a-kind evening that brought together donors, celebrity advocates, and community leaders, all united by a single vision: bringing world-class cancer care to the heart of Orange County. Together, we helped raise over $2.1 million in support of Orange County’s first and only specialty cancer hospital – a monumental step forward in making cutting-edge care more accessible and closer to home.

A heartfelt thank you to our client partners at City of Hope and Ocean 48 for their trust, and to everyone who showed up, gave generously, and helped make an extraordinary impact.

OCBC Healthcare Forum

Rebecca Hall, President and CEO, Idea Hall and Jeff Ball, CEO of Orange County Business Council

We attended the Orange County Business Council Healthcare Forum this month, where regional leaders gathered to explore the future of care, innovation, and community well-being.

We left inspired by the collective call to “be louder” about Orange County’s healthcare innovation – and to place big bets on tech-driven solutions that prioritize prevention, longevity, and human connection.

From AI-powered maternal health tools like Hoag’s Nona app, to CalOptima’s mission to improve patient continuity, and UCI Health’s commitment to local access and global excellence, the conversations were forward-thinking and deeply rooted in community care.

The Idea Hall team is energized by the momentum and more committed than ever to amplify the stories that move healthcare forward.
