National Philanthropy Day – Celebrating 40 Years of Giving

We spent National Philanthropy Day exactly where we want to be: in a room full of givers, changemakers, and community champions. ✨
This year marked the 40th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day, and we were honored to celebrate its founder, Doug Freeman, for four decades of fostering a thriving culture of generosity in Orange County. As Doug shared, “The culture of philanthropy is thriving in Orange County.” And this year’s celebration proved it.
Idea Hall was proud to honor the nonprofits, corporate partners, foundations, and volunteers who turn generosity into real, measurable impact across our region.
A heartfelt appreciation to the many leaders who continue to elevate our community:
Doug Freeman • OC Music and Dance • Dawn Reese, The Wooden Floor • Sue Parks, United Way • Oliver Badgio • Claudia Looney • Larry Zeiber, City of Hope • Charles Antis • Regan Philips, CASA • Sri, Cal State Fullerton • Chris Simonsen, Orangewood Foundation
From investing in mental health and education to supporting families, veterans, and vulnerable communities, the event was a powerful reminder that when good people and bold ideas come together, our entire region can thrive.
To the organizations we partner with, and the many we admire, thank you for the impact you create and the hope you inspire. 💛
Stop the Scroll – What’s New on Social

As platforms continue to evolve at record speed, November brought several updates that are shaping how brands show up, earn attention, and drive meaningful engagement. Here’s what’s rising to the top, and what it means for purpose-driven storytelling:
LinkedIn: Depth Over Volume Wins the Feed
- The algorithm is doubling down on conversational value. Posts that spark genuine dialogue, not passive reactions, are surfacing most often.
- Saves and comments now outweigh likes more significantly than ever.
- Long-form storytelling and multi-frame carousels continue to dominate dwell time, especially when the hook lands in the first 1-2 lines.
- Thought Leader Ads have expanded testing groups, giving brands more opportunities to amplify employee voices with authenticity.
What this means: Publish with intention. Lead with POV, not promotion. Prioritize posts that invite reflection, discussion, and peer-to-peer value sharing.
Instagram: Retention Is the New Reach
- Instagram’s 2025 updates reward watch time, originality, and on-screen SEO across Reels and carousels.
- AI-assisted content classification now better understands educational content, making “explainers,” breakdowns, and resource-style posts more discoverable.
- Reels that use conversational pacing and text-guided storytelling (not trending audio) are outperforming.
- Explore is surfacing more niche content than ever, widening opportunities for brands with distinct pillars.
What this means: Focus on clean narrative structure, high retention, and value density. Hooks matter, but holding attention matters more.
Meta: Smarter Targeting Through Conversations
- Meta continues rolling out AI-powered conversational ad experiences, allowing audiences to “chat” with branded assistants before converting.
- Community engagement posts (polls, prompts, questions) have seen a quiet resurgence as Meta refines signals around “active participation.”
What this means: Build for interactivity and personalization. The brands that win will be the ones using Meta’s AI to scale clarity, not lose authenticity.
TikTok: Stability and Searchability
- With U.S. ownership resolution underway and ban risk softening, TikTok has increased investment in creator tools and brand safety.
- On-screen SEO continues to shape discoverability, TikTok is becoming a legitimate search engine for younger audiences.
- Lo-fi storytelling and emotionally-led narratives outperform polished, high-production work.
What this means: Lean into authenticity, give every video a purpose, and use on-screen text to anchor search intent.
