Overview

Idea Hall seeks an Account Director who leads client relationships and integrated marketing communications strategy for clients across the nonprofit, AEC, education, commercial real estate, consumer and public sector industries. This role centers on account leadership, brand strategy, and cross-channel creative campaign development. 

You act as the senior strategic lead for assigned clients. You guide brand marketing direction, coordinate internal teams, and ensure programs connect brand, PR, creative, and digital marketing. 

You bring a strong understanding of digital marketing and cohesive, multi-channel creative storytelling. The role focuses on strategy, project management and client leadership rather than platform management. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Client Leadership 
    • Serve as senior strategic lead for assigned accounts. 
    • Build relationships with senior client stakeholders. 
    • Lead marketing planning , forecasting and program development aligned with business goals. 
    • Present strategy, campaign plans, and results to clients. 
    • Provide clear marketing counsel across brand, communications, and growth initiatives. 
    • Maintain strong client satisfaction and long-term partnerships. 
  • Integrated Marketing Strategy 
    • Lead development of integrated campaigns across brand, PR, digital, and traditional channels. 
    • Translate business objectives into clear marketing strategies and campaign plans. 
    • Guide messaging frameworks and campaign positioning. 
    • Ensure coordination across paid, owned, and earned media. 
    • Align internal teams around shared campaign strategy while keeping work on time and on budget.  
  • Brand and Positioning 
    • Guide brand strategy and audience development. 
    • Lead messaging development for campaigns and major initiatives. 
    • Ensure marketing programs reinforce brand identity and long-term positioning. 
    • Partner with creative and content teams on storytelling and campaign themes. 
  • Digital Marketing Oversight 
    • Maintain working knowledge of major digital marketing platforms and channels. 
    • Guide strategy across paid search through Google Ads and other platforms. 
    • Oversee paid social campaigns through LinkedIn Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and YouTube advertising. 
    • Understand audience targeting, budget allocation, and campaign optimization across platforms. 
    • Review performance insights from tools such as Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio dashboards, and marketing automation systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud. 
    • Guide website and content strategy within platforms such as WordPress or similar CMS environments. 
    • Translate digital performance data into recommendations for campaign strategy and growth.
  • Team Leadership 
    • Lead cross functional teams across PR, creative, digital, and content. 
    • Provide clear direction, briefs, and strategic guidance to internal teams, as well as strong project management, keeping all work on time and on budget. When shifts arise, navigating those with clients and the internal team.  
    • Mentor account managers and coordinators. 
    • Support strong collaboration across departments.  
  • Performance and Reporting 
    • Define KPIs and success metrics for marketing programs. 
    • Review campaign performance with analytics and digital teams. 
    • Present insights and recommendations to clients. 
    • Adjust marketing strategy based on results and evolving client goals.
  • Business Development 
    • Identify opportunities to grow client programs.
    • Support agency new business efforts and proposal development. 
    • Contribute strategic insight during pitch development. 

 

Qualifications 

  • 8 to 12 years’ experience in integrated marketing, brand strategy, or agency account leadership. 
  • Experience leading client relationships and marketing strategy within an agency environment is a must have. 
  • Background in integrated campaigns across brand, PR, digital marketing, and content. 
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing channels and marketing analytics. 
  • Strong presentation and client communication skills.
