Baba’s Cut-Out Cookies

This recipe was given to Account Director Meghan Webb’s grandmother, Baba, by her good friend Jane Alber. The recipe had been passed down in Jane’s family for years and quickly became a staple in Meghan’s family’s holiday traditions.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Margarine, Softened
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 Medium Eggs
  • 4 ½ cups Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda

 

Steps

  1. Cream sugar, margarine, vanilla and eggs together.
  2. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
  3. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, blending well.
  4. Form dough into a ball. Wrap in saran wrap or wax paper and foil. Chill in the fridge for several hours or overnight. 
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Roll out dough and use cookie cutters to cut out cookies. 
  7. Place cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
  8. Let cookies cool and then frost and decorate.
