Sonia Aujla, Account Director

Sonia Aujla is responsible for the public relations and marketing services at Idea Hall. In her position as Account Director, Sonia oversees strategic planning, accounts and project teams. Over the course of her career, Sonia has overseen award winning social and consumer marketing campaigns. She has represented a global public relations firm, collaborated with agencies from the client side, gathered, analyzed and interpreted market research data and immersed herself in the development of strategic multicultural marketing initiatives nationwide. This diversity in expertise provides Idea Hall and its clients a key edge in developing and executing communications goals.

Prior to joining Idea Hall, Sonia was marketing manager for the California Department of Health Services’ California 5 a Day Campaign. She oversaw the Campaign’s statewide Retail Program and worked closely with retail and produce industry stakeholders to deploy bilingual and culturally relevant marketing programs targeted to reach Latino and African American consumers at the point of purchase.   Before that she managed consumer accounts for Northern California integrated marketing agency Barcellona, Inc., and, before that was managing statewide public affairs and social marketing accounts at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. Sonia’s list of clients have included, Tenet Healthcare, The Medical Board of California, California Department of Health Services, California Department of Transportation, Office of Governor Gray Davis,  Sacramento Regional Marketing Campaign, Twelve Bridges-a master planned community, Nirvana Woman Magazine and Gujri Foundation.

Sonia holds a Masters Degree in Ethnic Studies and a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University, Sacramento. She is currently a member of the American Marketing Association and the Asian American Advertising Federation. She also serves as one of Idea Hall’s multilingual ambassadors as she is fluent in three languages — Punjabi, Hindi and English.

Fun Facts:
1. What's one thing that you wish people knew about you?
I am a firm believer that tomorrow will be too late to enjoy what you can today!

2. Most odd/fun job that you have ever had?
Debt Collector — This job single handedly sharpened my persuasive skills.

3. Greatest Academic Achievement?
Being the first person in my family to obtain a Master’s Degree.

4. Your childhood hobby? And your adulthood hobby?
Childhood Hobby: Starting clubs and organizing talent shows for peers in my neighborhood and family. Also, making myself the President/CEO of each of these endeavors.
Adulthood Hobby: Traveling the World.

5. If you had the power to invent ANYTHING what would it be?  What does it do?
A machine that would do my hair and make up for me every morning.
