Lauren Smith, Account Manager

Lauren Smith is responsible for the development and management of public relations strategies and marketing plans for Idea Hall clients.  She also oversees the agency’s media buying activity and serves as traffic manager for ad production.

Lauren’s proven track-record for excellence in media relations and business development, along with well-rounded creative talents, has made her a valuable addition to the Idea Hall team, which she joined in 2005.  Previously she worked with consumer, non-profit and business-to-business clients at an agency in Indianapolis, including a university, a law firm, an esthetic medical practice, a major philanthropy event, and a telecommunications company. Lauren has marketed for the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, The Indianapolis Underground Film Festival, and for Sharon Burns, CPA, Ph.D., author of How to Care for Your Parents’ Money While Caring for Your Parents. Additionally, she has worked on several graphic design projects.

A graduate of Purdue University, Lauren holds a B.A. in Organizational Communications with a minor in Business Management.  She is currently a member of the Public Relations Society of America and has been the recipient of several Marcom Creative awards.

Fun Facts:
1. What's one thing that you wish people knew about you?
I once tried out for American Idol (season two) — I made it through one round of auditions with producers.

2. Most odd/fun job that you have ever had?
Singing the national anthem at Big 10 sporting events at Purdue University (although I didn’t get paid!).

3. Greatest Academic Achievement?
Being a Purdue Boilermaker for four awesome years — and studying abroad at Oxford University.

4. Your childhood hobby? And your adulthood hobby?
Childhood: Music — piano, clarinet, alto sax
Adulthood: Trying new activities/ sports (have done bungee jumping, scuba diving and canyon swinging, next up is paragliding and sailing).

5. If you had the power to invent ANYTHING what would it be?  What does it do?
A mode of transportation (think Star Trek) that would enable me to instantly visit my friends and family back in the Midwest and travel around the world on a whim.
