A Trip to Little India

May 2007

Why did you recommend it?

There are many things to see and do in Southern California. Add visiting Little India to the top of your list of activities to explore. Little India is Southern California’s hub for colorful Indian fashion, delicious cuisine and unique cultural treasures. In addition to being surrounded by rich aromas of Indian spices and incense, you will experience the interwoven spiritual, practical and cultural web of the Indian community residing in Southern California. Some of my favorite places to visit include:

Bombay Sweets & Snacks—Fill up on a mango lassi (mango milkshake) and channa bhature (garbanzo bean curry with bread) before you explore the various shops. It will provide enough energy
to keep you moving throughout an afternoon. Located at 18526 Pioneer Blvd.

Frontier Heritage—Stock up on high end silks, traditional Indian clothing like sarees and accessories. No matter what trinket you pick up, you are sure to be adding opulent pieces to your fashion collection. Located at 18581 Pioneer Blvd.

Ziba Beauty Center—Stop in to have your eyebrows threaded or your hands and feet painted with intricate henna designs. Ziba Beauty is a worldwide respected leader in ancient Indian beauty techniques.  Located at 18500 Pioneer Blvd, Suite 203.
Where can we go to try what you recommended?

Little India is located on Pioneer Boulevard in Artesia, between 183rd St. and 187th  St. There is walking and shopping involved, so wear comfortable shoes, fill up on good food and bring your credit cards!
