Why did you recommend it?
I’ve just decided there is no better way to enjoy a great summer weekend then be out on the ocean sailing. A few of my friends and I took a private class for American Sailing Association (ASA) 101 Basic Keelboat certification through the Harborlight Yacht Club (next to the Queen Mary in Long Beach). Yes, we had to read a sailing book and do some studying, but we spent all day Saturday and Sunday in a sailboat with our personal instructor learning (literally) the ropes.
The good news is, with the help of our extremely knowledgeable instructor, “Captain Mike,” we all passed and are now certified to take out boats up to 25 feet. We’re already planning our first solo outing and getting the next level of certification through the club!
