When in New York, one does as the New Yorkers do: see Broadway musicals. I chose to see A Light in the Piazza because it was a 2005 Tony Award winning musical, and it was playing at Lincoln Center (which I had not been to).
The play is about Margaret and her daughter Clara who travel to Italy for a vacation. While visiting Tuscany, Clara falls in love with a local man, Fabrizio, much to her mother's dismay. Margaret tries to keep Clara and Fabrizio apart, and reveals a shocking secret about Clara in the process.
